Over the last 4 years, Nutrisystem D – a weight loss program specifically developed for people who are dealing with type 2 diabetes, has been working with the Association to help Stop Diabetes® by educating consumers on the importance of losing and managing your weight in the fight against this devastating disease. As a long term supporter of the diabetes community, Nutrisystem D was introduced in 2009 with a special promotion that provided a $5 donation to the American Diabetes Association for each new order placed; raising over $300,000 for the cause.
In addition, Nutrisystem D has developed and distributed educational materials about weight loss and diabetes for both consumers and Diabetes Healthcare Educators. These materials provide useful information and tips that helps reinforce the significance of losing or maintaining a healthy weight as is it relates to successfully managing and preventing diabetes.
As part of their ongoing commitment to stop diabetes, Nutrisystem also supports the Association during two of our key promotional times of the year – Alert Day!® and American Diabetes Month® - by encouraging their celebrities to support our messaging by posting on their Facebook pages and Twitter accounts. This type of support helps us reach a wider variety of people through popular celebrities including Marie Osmond, Dan Marino and Janet Jackson.
And, Nutrisystem doesn't stop there, they also rally their employees at their company headquarters in Ft. Washington, Pennsylvania, and year after year they recruit a strong Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® walk team that raises additional funds for the local Philadelphia office of the American Diabetes Association.
