Since 2001, Walgreens has supported the Association in our fight to Stop Diabetes® by helping to create awareness about diabetes and raise funds to help find a cure! As a National Strategic Partner of the Association, Walgreens focuses on helping the Association:
- Educate the public about their risk for developing type 2 diabetes
- Develop tools and resources to help those with diabetes better manage this disease
- Raise critical funds through their fundraising efforts
As the National Sponsor of Alert Day 2015, Walgreens will help sound the alarm and ask the question "what is your risk for diabetes?" They also extend the reach of our messaging by promoting Alert Day in their social media and encouraging all of their customers to take the Risk Test to find out their risk for diabetes. In addition, Walgreens hands out the Diabetes Risk Test in their stores and offers customers an opportunity to sit down and discuss their risk with a Pharmacist to better understand their health. There are nearly 8,000 Walgreens locations across the United States – be sure and visit your local store to get additional information about your risk for diabetes.
Walgreens supported the Association by conducting a month long pin pad donation promotion in November 2014, raising funds essential to helping those lives have been effected by diabetes. Each customer using a debit or credit card for payment at their local Walgreens was asked via pin pad to a donation. This campaign resulted in donating over $4.5 million to help find a cure.
In addition, as a National Sponsor of Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® in 2014, Walgreens rallied their employees and supported these walk events in local communities across the country; helping to raise money while spreading awareness of diabetes in local communities.
Walgreens continued support throughout the years helps the Association make a difference in the fight against diabetes and we are grateful for their support.
