For nearly 10 years, Colgate Total has been a supporter of the American Diabetes Association by helping us create more awareness about the connection of oral health as it relates to the management of diabetes. Research has shown that those living with diabetes have a higher risk of developing gum disease but with good oral care, they can help take charge of their overall health.
As a National Strategic Partner of the Association, Colgate Total sponsors a variety of community events and programs across the country to educate those affected by diabetes about the importance of taking care of their mouth as part of their diabetes management plan. Those events/programs include: Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, American Diabetes Association EXPO, Feria de Salud and Project Power. Also, during Oral Health Month in June, Colgate Total uses this time to ratchet up the awareness level through their PR efforts and utilizing social media to engage with Americans and promote their alliance with the Association.
In addition, Colgate Total provides information, tips and resources on the Association's Oral Health & Hygiene section of diabetes.org. Within this area, you can test your knowledge on oral health as well as submit a question through "Ask the Dentist."
The American Diabetes Association thanks Colgate-Total for their continued support in our fight to Stop Diabetes and helping Americans live an overall healthy lifestyle.
