• Success Alert: California Safe at School Victory

In a monumental victory for our kids, the California Supreme Court ruled on August 19, 2013 that California law permits trained school personnel to administer insulin to children with diabetes. That means children with diabetes will be able to get the care they need to be healthy and safe at school. This decision is the culmination of nearly eight years of hard work and persistence by the American Diabetes Association, and we are extremely pleased with the result.

  • Support America's moms and babies!

Tell Congress this we must do more to support better health for moms and babies. Ask your Members of Congress to support the Gestational Diabetes Act to create a tracking and surveillance system for gestational diabetes and provide research funding to help understand which women are at greatest risk of developing the disease and of progressing to type 2 diabetes.

With back to school time quickly approaching, parents of children with diabetes should have a plan in place to ensure their child is receiving the care they need at school and is treated fairly. The American Diabetes Association’s Safe at School campaign fights to ensure all children with diabetes are medically safe at school and have the same educational opportunities as their classmates.
