Fiscal Year 2014 Federal Funding Victories

A Big Victory for Diabetes Research and Prevention funding

We learned in January that we will be seeing a $76 million dollar increase in FY 2014 funding for the Division of Diabetes Translation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to a total of $137.3 million for the year - a nearly 125% increase over last year's funding. This is a historic win for Diabetes Advocates!

Secondly, the spending bill provides $10 million for the National Diabetes Prevention Program, which was completely unfunded in FY2013.

Additionally, Congress is providing $1.744 billion dollars for the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. This is a $51 million increase over last year's funding.

These major victories in our fight to Stop Diabetes® would simply not have been possible without your dedication and hard work. Diabetes Advocates like you should be proud of the impact you had on the budget process.
