Kentucky Safe at School Victory
We did it!
Because of the hard work of Kentucky Diabetes Advocates, House Bill 98 was signed by Governor Beshear. House Bill 98 will make a huge difference in children's lives, allowing school employees to volunteer to be trained to help children with diabetes with essential care tasks, including administering insulin. It also allows children to self-manage their diabetes while at school if they are capable of doing so. Now, Kentucky children with diabetes can be safe at school.
Special thanks to Rep. Robert Damron and Sen. Julie Denton as well as Governor Steven Beshear for their leadership on this important issue.
This work will lead to a better, safer and fairer school environment for Kentucky students with diabetes. Advocates will continue to work together to ensure the law is implemented across our state.
